When to use Sign PDF

A freelance designer receives a client contract via email and needs to return it signed by end of day — no printer, no scanner, no DocuSign subscription. Draw your signature with a mouse or finger on the canvas, type it in a script font, or upload a photo of your handwritten signature. Then drag it onto the correct line on any page of the PDF. pdf-lib embeds the signature image directly into the page content on your computer and produces a new signed PDF you can attach and send in minutes. The signature becomes part of the static page — it shows in every reader and prints cleanly. Note that this places a visual signature; for an audit-trailed legally binding e-signature, a dedicated platform is the right tool.

  • Return a freelance contract signed by end of day without printing
  • Sign a rental agreement on your phone before a same-day move-in
  • Add an approval signature to an internal document before forwarding to HR

About this tool

When someone sends you a PDF to sign and you don't have Adobe or a DocuSign subscription, you don't need to print, sign, and scan. Draw your signature with a mouse or finger, type it in a script font, or upload a photo of your handwritten signature — then drag it to the right spot on any page and download the signed PDF. Useful for freelance contracts, rental agreements, consent forms, and internal approval documents. Nothing is uploaded — signing happens entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is processed entirely on your computer. The file never leaves your device. This makes it safe for signing sensitive documents like contracts and legal forms.
Is this a legally binding electronic signature?
This tool places a visual representation of your signature on a PDF. For legally binding e-signatures with verification and audit trails, use a dedicated e-signature platform like DocuSign or Adobe Sign.
What signature methods are supported?
You can draw your signature with a mouse or finger, type your name in a script font, or upload an image of your signature.
Can I sign multiple pages?
Yes. Navigate between pages and place your signature on any page. You can place multiple signatures on the same document.
