When to use Image Blur / Pixelate
You're about to share a bug report screenshot with the vendor's support team, but the screenshot includes a customer's name and email address in the corner. Upload it, choose pixelation, dial the block size until the text is unreadable, and download the redacted version. Gaussian blur gives a smooth, photographic softening — good for background defocus effects — while the pixelation mode creates a mosaic of square blocks, which many privacy guidelines treat as stronger redaction. Both effects are applied directly in the browser using a canvas filter; your image never leaves this tab. The preview updates in real time as you drag the intensity slider, so you can find the right level before you download.
- Pixelate a customer's email address before sharing a screenshot in Jira
- Blur a license plate in a property photo before listing it on Zillow
- Soften a background in a product photo to draw focus to the subject
