When to use GPA Calculator

It's week 10 of the semester and you got a C+ in a 3-credit required course. Before spiraling, open this page: enter each course with its letter grade and credit hours, and the weighted GPA appears. A 4-credit A lifts the average more than a 1-credit A, so the weighting matters. Add your cumulative GPA and prior total credits in the running-total section and you'll see exactly where the semester lands your overall number — and whether you can still hit the 3.5 needed for that scholarship application. Uses the standard 4.0 scale with full plus/minus support. Your grades stay on your device; nothing is sent to any server or stored between sessions.

  • Check if a C+ tanks the GPA needed for a scholarship
  • Project the semester GPA before submitting a med school application
  • Confirm cumulative GPA after adding two transfer credits

About this tool

Before submitting that scholarship application or student aid form, know exactly where your GPA stands. Enter each course with its grade and credit hours — the calculator weights them correctly, so a 4-credit A counts more than a 1-credit A. Add your existing cumulative GPA and prior credit total to see how this semester moves the overall number. Uses the standard 4.0 scale with full +/- grade support. Your grades stay on your computer — nothing is sent to any server, and no account is required.

Frequently asked

How is GPA calculated?
GPA is a weighted average: multiply each course's grade points by its credit hours, sum them all, then divide by total credit hours. An A (4.0) in a 4-credit course counts more than an A in a 1-credit course.
What grade scale does this use?
This uses the standard 4.0 scale: A/A+ = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D- = 0.7, F = 0.0.
How do I calculate cumulative GPA?
Enter your existing GPA and total credits in the cumulative section, then add your current semester courses. The calculator combines both to show your updated cumulative GPA.
Is this GPA calculator private? Does it store my grades?
No. The weighted average is computed in your browser tab from the grades and credit hours you enter. Those values are never posted to a server or persisted when you reload the page.
